A saxophonist, a guitarist, a singer/songwriter, and a bandleader, Ken has been described as a purveyor of restless midwestern sentimentality, who searches in his songs for the kinds of truth that’s often best found within oneself. Whether performing as a solo acoustic singer-songwriter or with his full band Cross Kentucky, Ken stays busy, playing 200+ shows a year across the DC, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia region, the eastern seaboard, the midwest, and south. Born and raised in Champaign, Illinois, Ken studied classical saxophone at the University of Illinois before graduating from UNLV in Las Vegas, NV with a degree in jazz studies. He spent the next decade playing all over the world: in Las Vegas casinos; on cruise ships in Northern Europe, Africa, and Asia; at Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan; on national tours of Broadway musicals; at festivals including the 2004 Montreux Jazz Festival and 2010 Chicago Blues Festival; and of course, in countless clubs and small venues. He continually worked as an in-demand freelancer, playing saxophone with artists both locally and nationally – including, among many others, Frankie Avalon, Ben Vereen, Bobby Parker, Noel Gallagher & High Flying Birds, and Carlos Santana.

Professional snowboarder turned songwriter, Shawn Owen performs 300+ shows per year as a solo performer and fronting the Shawn Owen Band, sharing the stage with national acts such as The Wailers, Slightly Stoopid, G. Love and the Special Sauce, Dropkick Murphys, Passafire, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Donovan Frankenreiter, Larry Keel, Dirty Heads, The Aggrolites, Iration and many more, bringing their distinctive reggae/jam/ska/party vibe throughout the east coast from upstate New York to southern Florida and all in between. Their debut full length LP “Make Money” was released June 2015.

Rook Richards — the musical moniker of Mike Richards — is a native to Alexandria, VA and his musical roots run deep in the soil. Characterized by a harmonious fusion of genres including singer/songwriter, pop country, and acoustic rock, he took his eclectic mix of musical influences, intertwined them with his ethereal vocals, narrative-driven lyrics, and developed a distinctive sound of his own. Beginning his musical career in 2017 with the band — A Note Two Self — Richards started making large strides towards music; treating it like a language and immersing himself in it fully. Driven by an intense passion and purpose, he did everything in his power to make music his livelihood, releasing multiple singles, an EP, engaging in many local touring opportunities, and eventually deciding to dedicate himself to pursuing a solo path. Richards writes music from the heart and for the people, exploring concepts of heartache and the importance of perseverance in the life long pursuit of love and happiness. His overall message is one of hope, optimism and positivity. Creating music guided by his own honest and raw emotional experiences, he lends a supportive hand to his listeners, reminding them that heartbreak is universal, that you are never alone and that there’s never an appropriate time to lose faith.

Burd Boonyoo is a singer-songwriter based in Alexandria VA. He currently performs around the DMV while working on writing his next release and has been compared to artists such as The Goo Goo Dolls, Dashboard Confessionals, and Death Cab for Cutie.

Jarrett Laskey is a classically trained professional musician performing a varied repertoire of elegant classical music standards, Spanish/Latin guitar music and many arrangements of contemporary music. Jarrett’s guitar music has created the perfect ambience in hundreds of various events over the past several years in the greater DC/VA/MD/WVA/PA areas for wedding ceremonies/receptions, business functions, cocktail hours, brunches, wine-tastings, etc. Performing in many settings from National landmarks/historic mansions/country clubs/ finer hotels to vineyards and art galleries. He is listed as a Preferred Vendor at many popular wedding venues such as 2941 Restaurant, Meadowlark Gardens, Tudor Place, Tabard Inn, as well as recurring performances at many local music venues brunch/event series, at L’Auberge Chez Francois and other locations. He has also won the Bride and Couples’ Choice award on Wedding Wire for the last 10 years running. Before earning a BFA in Music Performance at Carnegie Mellon University, Jarrett was studying privately with local VA university professor Larry Snitzler, a direct student of Andres Segovia. More recently studying with Berklee College professor Berta Rojas, and participating in Masterclasses with musicians Jesus Silva, Franco Platino, Angel Romero, and Pepe Romero.

Brian Johnson learned at an early age that he had a natural talent for singing. He began shaping and fine-tuning this gift in church, show choir, school, and at home, and has since performed the National Anthem for several local sports opening ceremonies, he has sung for multiple weddings, he has performed at the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC (2017-2019), and he has been the lead singer of different music groups and bands, most notably with RadioNV, which he helped form with Tim Campbell in 2014.

Matt Burridge is a musician local to the DMV area. Currently based in Fredericksburg, he plays bars, wineries, and private events from Maryland all the way down to Richmond. In addition to playing solo cover gigs, he writes original music, produces under the name BD LCK, and plays in a progressive post hardcore band called pulses.

Ivy League is an alternative and indie rock band based out of Severna Park Maryland. They released their first album Homecoming in 2022 and received over 100,000 streams in the first year. The variety of music they perform has caught the attention of many establishments allowing them to tour throughout DMV and Pennsylvania at several restaurants/bars, music venues and private events. Ivy League has been invited to play at music festivals such as Burgers & Band’s, Eastport a Rockin and Battle of the Bands. They are currently recording their next album that will be released this summer.

Britton James is an acoustic rock artist based in Northern Virginia that has a focus on creating music that brings people together at weddings, events, local bars, and restaurants. Britton is currently focusing on touring locally after completing two records, the first self titled with a mix of acoustic rock, and reggae vibes, and the second, “Olympic Village” with blended rock tones and a driving acoustic force.

Jason Hibler, born and raised near Chicago, IL, brings the blues/jazz feel the city is known for to his shows. He plays a wide variety of well-known covers, everything from the 60s to current hits and adds an extra layer of entertainment looping song live on stage! He currently resides in Northern Virginia and tours locally

Washington DC area and along the East Coast since 2006, citing musical influences like Bob Schneider, Greensky Bluegrass, The Tallest Man on Earth, G. Love, Old Crow Medicine Show, and David Gray. In February of 2014, Trawick won “Song of the Year” at the Washington Area Music Awards for his solo recording of “All the Places That I’ve Been,” which can be downloaded on iTunes as a single along with his five other solo records and EPs. In June of 2015, Trawick released his first single, “Goodbye,” under the band name “Justin Trawick and the Common Good,” written about the search for direction and belonging in a world that always feels one step ahead of you. In January of 2018, “Justin Trawick and The Common Good” released their first EP, “The Riverwash EP,” which features Norah Jones’ guitarist Adam Levy. In 2020 the band released the single “Back of the Line” during the coronavirus quarantine and was featured on Reuters, CNN, Al Jazeera, Washington Post, Washingtonian Magazine, Parade Magazine, American Songwriter Magazine, Voice of America and Virginia Living Magazine for Trawick’s livestream series and secret backyard concert series created during the pandemic. Trawick and the band have performed for the Kingman Island Bluegrass Festival, Appaloosa Roots Music Festival, Floyd Yoga Jam, TedxEast in NYC at the City Winery, and TedxPennsylvaniaAvenue in DC at the Newseum. Additionally, Trawick has opened for over 30 national acts, including Suzanne Vega, Wyclef Jean, Brett Dennen, Blues Traveler, Enter The Haggis, Bob Schneider, and Edwin McCain, and shared bills with Dr. Dogg and The Avett Brothers. As the founder of the nationally touring show “The 9 Songwriter Series” and co-founder of “The Circus Life Podcast” with guests such as Kevin Eubanks, Chris Thomas King, Ernie Halter, Yarn, and Snuffy Walden, Trawick has built a brand that extends far beyond his home base in DC.

Justin began his career in 2015, quickly becoming a regular in the local music scene of Virginia Beach. His talent catapulted him from the college bars to opening up for touring artists and being featured on local radio stations. In the summer of 2017, Justin’s voice landed him a “Golden Ticket” on American Idol. After interviewing with the show’s producers, they believed that he didn’t have the captivating story they were searching for that season. But his real story begins there. He packed up a suitcase, grabbed a couple guitars, and moved to Nashville, TN. When he got to Music City, he had a thousand dollars to his name and nowhere to stay. Living in and out of hotels, he’d clock into a warehouse job at 4:30am and then play shows at night to get his foot in the door. Justin performed throughout Nashville from 2017-2021 as a singer/songwriter. He was discovered in 2019 and signed a recording contract in 2021 to release his own hand crafted music. In June of 2022, his debut single “Borrowed Time” was released on all major music platforms and has started picking up radio attention. A live studio concert of his original music will air on “Live at the Rock” in 2023. Justin has played at a number of high profile venues and events across the United States, sharing the spotlight with artists like Garth Brooks, Eric Church, Kenny Chesney, Old Dominion, Granger Smith, and more. Justin currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia.

David is a seasoned musician and has performing since he was 9 years old. His versatility in the local music scene has made him a house hold name in the DC area with influential styles of pop, rock, reggae, hip-hop, and indie. He’s currently working on his solo debut “Doux-Amer” with Nathon Haddon of Haddon Records. Though first and foremost a vocalist and rhythm guitar player, he also has performed drums, bass, and keys with various bands. David is also a talented DJ, and is the founder of the nostalgic alternative rock series called Back To The 90s. David has shared the stage with Weezer, Ryan Cabrera, Ash, Ballyhoo! and Ozma. David has performed at many notable venues on the east coast including Nationals Park, The Fillmore, Jammin’ Java, Union Stage, Rock & Roll Hotel, The Black Cat, The National, The DC Wharf, The Milkboy and CBGB.

Matty D (Matt Davis) is a natural lead guitarist turned singer/songwriter and local touring musician. He currently resides in Northern Virginia and has been touring locally while spending time writing new songs with a plan of a new release sometime in the future. Matty is inspired by many things, including family, life experiences. His work is heavily inspired by 90’s rock and Chris Stapleton.

Brent Kimbrough is an accomplished guitarist, singer, composer and bandleader from Chicago, U.S. He has performed nationally across the U.S. and internationally in Amsterdam, Beijing, Guadalajara, Madrid, Paris, Shanghai, Singapore and more. His band, Brent Kimbrough & Company recently released their fourth studio album, 12th Street Serenade to critical acclaim. Brent’s musical journey began at the age of 11 on Chicago’s southwest side when he was given his first guitar. After swiftly absorbing his fundamentals, Brent began studying classical guitar and later jazz, rock and R&B. Brent’s father, who migrated to Chicago from the cotton fields of Mississippi in 1950 instilled in Brent a great passion, respect for the blues. Brent has studied with Chicago’s greatest music educators, composers and performers including Larry Gray, John Moulder and David Bloom in addition to New York guitarist Gene Bertoncini and master courses with Pat Martino, Mike Stern, Dave Liebman and more.
